Although Las Vegas is popularly known as the city for adult entertainment and gambling, there are things to do in Las Vegas city besides the clubs and casinos. There are free art installations and shows, unusual museums, award-wining restaurants and family-friendly entertainment to ensure a most enjoyable experience for those who are visiting the city.
Enjoying Vegas without breaking the bank is entirely possible. The hotels along downtown and The Strip feature spectacular on site displays, attractions, and performances aside from their regular big budgeted productions. The best outdoor attractions would be the fountain and water show at the Bellagio and the volcano at the Mirage. Another free show is the Sirens of Ti at the Treasure Island Hotel, an 18 minute outdoor performance with sirens, pirates, and fireworks.
The Fremont Street Experience is a must for first-timers in Vegas. Bands, street performers in every corner, neon signage everywhere, and sound and light productions from a massive video wall combine to create a visual and auditory smorgasbord. The dining and drinking establishments are a lot cheaper here, compared to The Strip.
Shopping and entertainment options cater to a variety of budget preferences. A lot of the famous shopping areas in Vegas like the Bellagio Shops, The Forum and Grand Canal are pricey for most people. The Las Vegas Premium Outlets carry brand names such as Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors, and Coach. Most carry great deals, however for budget conscious Vegas shopping, try going to the cheaper outlet malls like the Las Vegas Outlet Center and the Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas.
Instead of walking along The Strip and downtown Vegas or paying for a cab, take the Deuce, a double-decker bus that services both locals and tourists. The Deuce is probably the cheapest transportation mode available in the city. With over 51 routes available and 24 hour service, the Deuce stops at almost every hotel along The Strip, downtown Vegas, and some residential routes.
